It’s September and summer is winding to a close but Manchester remains as active as ever. Here is a short list of activities, places and events to explore this month.
1. Enjoy food with heart at Evelyn’s
Evelyn’s is a local restaurant serving brunch classics by day, refined small plates by night and hearty roast dinners on Sunday’s. They pride themselves on having a kitchen centred around a charcoal Inka grill, which allows for live fire cooking which adds personality to the dishes, taking inspiration from Middle Eastern and Pan-asian favourites. So, if you are looking for delicious food with a great atmosphere and a menu for all occasions visit Evelyn’s.
2. The Warehouse Project
The Warehouse Project is a bit of a music institution in Manchester. First held on the old Boddington’s Brewery site, and now in Depot Mayfield, The Warehouse Project is home to Manchester’s most infamous club events. Since its conception, the club has played host to numerous internationally acclaimed DJs and musicians. Unlike most other clubs, it has a limited seasonal approach rather than running all year. Each year’s season runs from September through to New Year’s Day so get tickets now to experience the most recent iteration of Manchester’s renowned nightlife.
3. Support Local Artisans at The Makers Market
The Makers Market is a home to the North West’s finest makers. The Markets operate in towns across the North West hosting a wide selection of local makers, bakers, crafters and performers. So, if you fancy a treat, head down to Oak Street in the Northern Quarter on the second Sunday of every month and support some of the best local businesses in town!
4. Browse The Modernist Gallery and Shop
The Modernist gallery and shop is Manchester’s only shop that specialises in architecture and design books. In 2011 they established a publishing arm, publishing limited editions about 20th century architecture and design, along with the modernist magazine, which champions unique perspectives on 20th-century architecture and design. Visit the store to pick up the latest magazine and browse their stationery, prints and selected range of modernist products from cushions to mugs. If you enjoy what you see, head upstairs to visit the library, gallery and event space which hosts talks, tours, exhibitions and films.
5. A night out with a twist at NQ64
NQ64, located in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and on Peter Street, is a neon splattered bar with a twist. Full of retro arcade machines and classic consoles, you can play nostalgic games with your friends whilst sipping on game-themed cocktails or craft beers- sounds like good fun to us!
