Here is our  list of the things you should do this July in order to make the most of summer in the City!

1. Check out Yayoi Kusama: You, Me and the Balloons

Manchester International Festival (MIF) provides the first opportunity for audiences to experience Factory International‘s new venue, recently renamed Aviva Studio’s. Taking place from June 29 to July 16, the festival will house the best of music, art, theatre, film in our city.

Notably a jaw-dropping exhibition from Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama will be hosted in the large arts venue. The 94-year-old surrealist pioneer has filled the warehouse with an array of multi-coloured inflatable sculptures from dolls, pumpkins and writhing tentacles for an eye-catching, immersive must-see experience.

2. Revel in the Sounds of the City at Castlefield Bowl

Sounds of the City is back this June and July, taking over Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl for an annual  summer series of music. The line-up consists of local artists performing, under the shadow of the viaduct, alongside the Castlefield canal. This year is no exception, with headliners including Porcupine Tree, Blossoms, Bastille and Hacienda Classical attracting crowds music-loving Mancunians.

3. Cheers to the opening of The Wayfarer

The team behind popular NQ brunch spot Another Heart To Feed are opening a new bar Called The Wayfarer, situated on the corner of Oldham Street and Swan street in the Northern Quarter.

An extensive refurbishment covering two floors has has transformed the spot into a warm oasis complete with mid-century furniture, Victorian tiling and the original green-tiled frontage. A place for proper pints and modern cocktails, the Wayfarer looks like a promising addition to Manchester’s thriving hospitality scene.
