A new level to Deansgate Metrolink Station
A new public realm scheme, glass lift and staircase are planned to improve the Metrolink stop next to our Viadux development in Manchester city centre.
It will not only give residents easy access to the city region’s extensive tram system but provide an elegant, landscaped setting for the podium level of the residential tower.
The glass lift and staircase have been designed by SimpsonHaugh & Partners – the same architectural team that has designed Viadux.
There are also plans to remove a section of the bridge that crosses Great Bridgewater Street to allow more natural daylight onto the Grade II listed railway arches below which will be converted to new bars and shops as part of the project.
The £1m investment in this important infrastructure is being funded by Salboy.
If Manchester City Council gives approval to the plans the new lift and staircase would be installed later this year with the landscaping element done when the residential tower is complete.
Our contractor partner Domis has already begun groundworks on Viadux and work to complete the whole project is expected to take three years.
It is one of the city’s most significant new developments and will provide super high specification homes offering one, two or three bedrooms with luxurious amenities designed to enhance a city lifestyle.
