Bollington
We already know Bollington is brilliant but now its official – the lovely Cheshire town has just been named the Best Place to Live in the North West by The Sunday Times.
It takes top spot in the annual newspaper survey which highlights the town’s independent character as well as the wonderful natural amenities on its doorstep.
As well as a thriving high street there is Clarence Mill next to the Macclesfield Canal which is a hive of shops and small businesses with a welcoming café. It has its own arts centre which stages plays and concerts as well as hosting a huge number of local groups and a town playing field where you can watch local cricket teams or set out a picnic. Bollington even has its own brewery which produces White Nancy beer – named after a cylindrical white folly that overlooks the town.
You can take to the Peak District hills for rugged dog walks or meander along the Macclesfield Canal tow path for family bike rides.
It has good primary schools and outstanding Secondary schools close by and you can catch mainline trains into Manchester or to London from Macclesfield which is ten minutes away.
It’s not nicknamed Happy Valley for nothing.
